What We're About

This site is for all kinds of activity and fitness. Whether you are interested in hiking, backpacking, camping or other outdoor activity, or you are into gym workouts, boot camps, and organized sports/events; we hope to be a valuable source of information for you.

The plan is also to be a community. Eventually, you will be able to set up a free account. With the account you will be able to contribute to the forums and discussions, track our workouts and nutrition, upload pictures of your adventures, and more. Soon, there will even be an app you can download to track your activities and share in community events and discussions.

Training & Camps

Boot camps can be one of the most fun ways to ‘shape up.’ They can help you lose weight, increase your metabolism, and strengthen the muscles you use everyday.

On top of these benefits, boot camps often start people off on a fitness lifestyle change that will last the rest of their lives. It is not uncommon for boot camp participants to further their training - adding bodybuilding training, joining social running groups, become part of organized sports leagues, or dive into sports like triathlons and adventure racing.

Because boot camps are fun and launch so many into a more fit lifestyle, we will be featuring boot camps (that meet our criteria) in this section. Sometimes these will be our boot camps, many times others. We will also try to list boot camps designed for different interests – general health, obstacle course, military style, bodybuilding, etc.

(If you offer boot camps or fitness training in your area, you will be able to submit your info here as well).

Events

Organized events are often what keep us motivated and offer us challenges. And not just the local 5K, obstacle course, or weekend 3-on-3 challenge. Sports and adventure travel have become very popular. (There are travel companies that specialize in only this kind of travel).

Whether you want to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro or run your first 5K, these kinds of planned activities can be a lot of fun, keep you motivated, and challenge you to exceed your current limits.

So, events will be a big part of this site. We want to make our members and visitors aware of all the different kinds of active events available – chances are you will find something to keep you motivated. This section will include articles as well as searchable lists/calendars of events.

Blogs & Forums

We want this site to be more than just a list of events and classes. We are hoping to form a community where members can learn, share, discuss, and even become friends. To help accomplish this, we are going to have blogs, forums and ‘walls’ on the site.

The blog section will be where we (or guest authors) write about the latest in sports, fitness and nutrition. We will try to dispel myths, provide up-to-date information and have fun! Blog posts will be open to comments as well.

The forums are for general discussions. You can ask questions, talk about events, provide advice, and more. (The forums are moderated, keep it clean and polite)!

In the near future we will be adding ‘walls’ to the member profiles. This area will be something similar to Facebook or Google+ in function. You can post status updates, upload images and create galleries, make friends, join groups and more. So, have fun!

Workouts

What would a fitness site be without workouts? In this section we will be providing help with individual exercises and workout plans.

There are so many plans on the web – both paid and free. We hope to put together different workout routines that will match your needs and goals. For example, you might find a routine that can help improve your cycling, skiing, or softball performance. Or maybe you want to improve your physique with body weight exercises only, there’s a plan for that.

And of course, you will also be able to design your own workout routine(s). Once signed in, you will be able to use the search and drag-n-drop functionality to design and save your own workout routines. (Eventually, you will be able to export these to our app for use on the go).

Come back here often, this section will be constantly added to and improved.

Tools & Calculators

In an attempt to be a truly helpful site, we’re including online calculators and tools to help you track your fitness. You will find BMI (body mass index), resting and basal metabolic rate, and target working heart rate calculators in this section. We will also give you recommendations for tools/instruments you can buy to help with these measurements and where appropriate, instructions on how to use them.

To help you track all this information and see your improvements over time, we also provide a fitness diary. This diary includes sections for overall fitness, workout logs, a running diary, etc. Also included is a nutrition diary with calorie, protein and fat content for many foods (and you can add your own foods too). Free membership is required for diary setup and use.

These tools and calculators will all be added to our mobile app soon too!

Nutrition

For many, diet is the hardest part of being fit. Hopefully, this section will make that a little easier.

Here we are focusing on nutrition – that’s more than just diet. We want to help you create a lifestyle of eating nutritious foods. This section will offer articles about vitamins and minerals, dispelling food myths, creating food plans… any subject that is related to nutrition, that we think will be useful may be included here. And your suggestions are welcome.

This section will also be filled with recipes. Smoothies, breakfast, casserole, holiday, protein, snacks… we will have all kinds of recipes in this section. The recipe database will be searchable to make it easier for you to find the type of recipe you want. You will also be able to rate recipes and create ‘wish lists’ for things you’d like to try. Additionally, you will be able to add your own recipes and submit them for general use.

Galleries

The gallery section is for motivation! We will highlight events and adventures that we participate in, along with a little story about the activity.

And we are opening this section to your motivational stories as well. If your take an adventure vacation and have some great pictures and story, we’d like to see them! Got some pictures and a story about achieving a new personal record (PR) for a marathon? Post it here! Participate in a long bikepacking trip? Post it here!

The gallery section is not only for photos either. You can include videos from your activities as well. We will even be including a section that is more like a blog than a gallery, because you might have a great story with only a couple of pictures. As long as it’s motivational, it may be included here.
